The Stony Brook football team fought back from a 31-13 deficit in the third quarter and tied the game at 34-34 with 11 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter but ultimately fell 41-34 to Delaware State on Aug. 27 at Alumni Stadium in Dover.

Stony Brook received the ball to start the evening. Hester started the night with a 5-yard rush followed by a six-yard rush for the Seawolves’ first down of the game. After a short pass by Boyd, the Seawolves were forced to punt with 12:52 left in the first.

The Stony Brook defense went to work on their first possession of the evening by forcing a three-and-out to allow Stony Brook to get the football back at the opposing 46-yard line following punt return by CJ Hester.

On their next possession, the Seawolves took an early 6-0 lead after Boyd and Linkins connected on a 36-yard pass.

Delaware State responded to take a 7-6 lead following a 76-yard pass on the third play of their drive.

After the Seawolves were stopped at the 25-yard line on fourth down following a 43-yard reception from James Dely, Delaware State knocked in a 41-yard field goal as time expired in the first quarter.
