Great Neck Library election set for Oct. 26

By Long Island Press August 31, 2026 2 min read

Great Neck Library voters will elect five members to the library’s Board of Trustees and Nominating Committee in an election scheduled for Oct. 26, with nine candidates competing for five seats on the fall ballot.

The election includes four seats whose terms expire in January 2027: two Board of Trustees seats currently held by Liman Mimi Hu and Rory Lancman, and two Nominating Committee seats held by Daniel Pitt Stoller and Joanna Stolove. A fifth seat is a vacant Board of Trustees position previously held by Brachah Goykadosh, with two years remaining on the term.

Daniel Straub is running for the seat currently held by Hu. Hu and David Shahverdi are running for Lancman’s seat.

Krish Soundararajan and Lynne Bursky-Tammam are seeking the vacant trustee seat.

For the two Nominating Committee seats, Leon Manoucheri and Melissa Jurin are running for Stoller’s seat, while Ilana Scheiner Kroll and Debra Kaufman are running for Stolove’s seat.

Hu, the only current trustee seeking another term who was not selected by the Nominating Committee, is running as an independent candidate for Lancman’s seat.
