SBU football to host first home game of the season on Sept. 3

Stony Brook Athletics has announced that the Stony Brook Seawolves football team will host the Lindenwood Lions, representing Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Missouri, for their home opener on Thursday, September 3, at 7 p.m. at LaValle Stadium. The game will air live on SNY.
Head coach Billy Cosh is in the midst of his third year at the helm of the program. The Seawolves stormed back from a 31-13 deficit in their opener last Thursday at Delaware State and tied the game at 34-34 in the fourth quarter but ultimately fell, 41-34.
Cosh has led the program to new heights over his first two seasons. In his first season, he guided Stony Brook to the FCS’s largest turnaround, its first national ranking since 2018 and multiple Coach of the Year honors, including FCS, AFCA Regional, CAA and Walter Camp FCS Coach of the Year. Last season, Cosh led the Seawolves to a 6-6 record and a 5-1 mark at LaValle Stadium. His 14 wins are the most by a Stony Brook head coach in their first two seasons.
